Montreal Missions Trip 06

In July 06 I went to Montreal as a leader of the Sr. High youth group at my church, Central Heights. The program in Montreal was led by SOAR and more specifically Phil Serez. They had pretty much organized everything for our 16 days. There were youth groups from almost every province in Canada and even a few teams from the US. Our team was by far the largest with over 20 people, and because of our size we had split up into two teams for most of the trip. These two teams of ours met in the morning and in the evening after our ministry during the day was over. Here below are a few pictures and descriptions from my camera, as well as a few others, that will give you an idea of what all happened during this trip.

Well, we are on the plane and on our way to Montreal. It sure looks like Derek is excited...well as excited as he can get sans Rush by his side.
We've been up in the air for just over an hour...look there is Claresholm...

After a 5 hour plane ride here we are, near the airport at our hotel. For some reason we had to stand right in front of the door blocking everyone that wanted to come and go.

Kim and Felicia are enjoying the intense game of Uber War.

A bunch of us playing "Uber War" at the hotel we stayed at our frist night in Montreal.

Montreal's answer to The Vancouver Sun :P.

Waiting outside our hotel by the airport...can anyone spare some change for some poor Westeners?
St. Joseph's across the street from where we stayed.
We stayed here at the college for the two weeks we where in Montreal. It was a massive, castle like building.

This is some of the front of the college.

There should be a SBC outside of every Metro Station...maybe we could make this suggestion to city council?

The subway system in Montreal...a.k.a. the Metro. We got quite used to taking the Metro while we were there.

Some uber building in old Montreal.

Some of Montreal's downtown.

The posse chillin out at a fountian.

Trois flags.

Probably my favorite picture that I took while in Montreal.

The Dub-Mart Racer.

A sweet veiw of some of old Montreal.
STOP

Some cool building.

I couldnt figure out if they were Heterite or old school Mennonites.

An arrangement of flags in old Montreal.

A big cross on top of Mount Royal.

The first Shisha and Hookah place I saw in Montreal.
Another interesting shop we passed by on our journey through the city of Montreal.

Ah yes, the one thing that I missed more then anything while in Montreal...Exercise Ball Soccer. Kevin is feeling oddly drawn to the E-Ball in this pic.

This would be an amazing thing to have in Abbotsford. It looks like too much fun! (would be some good times eh Carissa?)

The Steep Insane Hill of Doom. Good times up and down that thing eh?

Martin (the bassist in the worship band) and our PAX Sista are leading us in some sweet outdoor games.

Me and Jason lookin all cool and whatnot.

I found a busted up cousin of my April Exploader. This one makes mine look like a Lexus!

Andy and Colin in a mini Francophone Fuzz vehicular.

Now this was a surpirse. My team was sent to this random church to hear from a pastor at that church about his passion for Montreal, and to my delight the pastor there was John Calvin (to my direct right) and his friend Jeremiah (to my direct left). I had met these two gentlemen about a year previous at a MCC faith political conference in Ottawa. It was great to see them again, and even better that we all remembered each other!

Some yummy cafiteria food that we had every day, three times daily!

Phil laying the Word down for us.

8 words: "I'm having an orgasm in my auditory canals!"

The meeting room pre-worship...apparently SOAR runs a tight shift, cause there are many youth past out on the floor.

DJ Jigga Dan, laying down some phat beats and mixes of the most heinous proportions.

The crosswalks, they have timers on them, so old people know how much time they gots!

One of are many leaders meetings.
This is Kels giving us a proper demonstration on how to properly clean our dishes after one of our meals at the college.

This is what was cleaned off the dishes.

This is Kels enjoying washing her dishes.

Awwww...aren't they cute!

Quebec's provincial flag.

Was it something I said??? (please don't kill me)
Our missions trip official game. It was rock, paper, scissors. Except after each round, the winner got to smack the other persons fore-under-arm. There were many bruises and broken blood vessels.

A metro station tunnel.

"I like big butts..."

A worship sesh at Notre Dame college (where we were staying). This was one of many sessions that we had while we were in Montreal. Usually they consisted of anouncements, worship, and some sort of informative message about Montreal or what we were going to be doing that day.

Our living quarters viewed from St. Joseph's across the street.
