Thailand 07 - First Week

So, my friend Jason and I have started our 2 month trek in Thailand. This is my second time here, and I missed it so much that I decided to come back again!
We had a long flight on the way here...
Vancouver ->San Fran. ->Tokyo ->Bangkok
But we made it here and we haven't lost anything. So the following is a bit about our first week in Thailand...I should have weekly updates so keep on checking my blog if you are interested in what we are doing here in the land of smiles.
------------
We spent our first two days on Khaosan Rd. in old Bangkok. It is a backpackers party centre. So we were there for a few days and toured a bit of old Bangkok...then we headed to Bang Saen to TLC to help out Team 2000 and the rest of the Thai church.
Check out TLC and Team 2000 @

Well we thought that we would start this trip off right with some Smallville...
SOMEBODYYY SAAAAAAAAAVVVVEEEEE MEEEEE!!!

Jason and I on a tuk tuk in Bangkok.

A monk at the Grand Palace.
Some restorated paintings at the Grand Palace.

Jason with a guard at the Grand Palace.

This is just outside the Grand Palace in old Bangkok. Jason and I took a tour there...this was my second time there, but I got to see a bunch of things that I had missed the first time.
Some sweet weapons at at the Grand Palace.

This is a night shot of Khaosan Rd. There are many tourists that come here to party hard while in Bangkok.
This is a kebab stand on Khaosan Rd...we thought of you Tugrul!
Carmen (one of the Team 2000 missionaries) took us to her house and then too a nearby pool. We ate and hung around with her and her kids/ on of Ricky's girls. In a nutshell...it was good times!
This is "Super Kid" aka Sam. This is one of the children taken in by the Abundant Life Home. Sam was recently healed from HIV! What an awesome God we have! There is a family from Richmond BC that is here in Thailand that plans to adopt Sam.
So day two in Bang Saen, we find ourselves at Louise's place (one of the Team 2000 missionaries) doing a bunch of garden work and what not in preperation for a wedding that will take place in their back yard on Friday. It was good times out in the sun...we even had traditional Thai gardening hats to wear the whole time. This pic is of Jason cutting down a dead branch off of a mango tree covered in red ants...which are mean little things.

This is where the arch and stage is going to go for the wedding.

Bang Saen Beach.

Ok so get this...two summers ago I was on a tree planting crew with this guy Luke...and he just so happened to be in Thailand as well...so much to our surprise we were able to catch up with each other a bit...small world...

This is us with two of our new found American friends.

This is us at Swensons...an ice cream place in the local mall.
